Check out Discover Aviation Center!
Discover Aviation Center (DAC) introduces people to aviation and helps promote other aviation organizations. We have a Flying Club; offer outreach programs, which include Discover Aviation Day (May 19th in 2018), airport tours, school career fairs and library programs; and we encourage aviation networking through meetings (first Saturday of each month) and cookouts (third Friday of each month throughout the summer) at the Discover Aviation hangar at the Lorain County Airport. If you are interested in becoming a member of DAC or would like more information, please check out our website – discoveraviationcenter.org - or contact us directly (info below).
The 3rd Friday of each month starting around 6:30 the Discover Aviation Center's Flying Club hosts a cookout in the DAC hangar at the Lorain County Airport off of Russia Rd. All are welcome! Wonderful opportunity to share in the camaraderie of your fellow aviation enthusiasts, or just a good excuse to hang out at the airport for a bit!

Note: We will resume cookouts in the Spring of 2018 when warmer weather returns. Thanks to all who participated. It's always great to see everyone.

Saturday, April 21 – Operation rain check – tour of Oberlin center

Thanks to member Sarah Keesler, we have been invited to tour the Cleveland Air Route Traffic Control Center on Saturday April 21st for Operation Raincheck! Operation Raincheck is a program designed to bring aviators into the ATC facility and introduce them to the behind-the-scenes operations of the FAA. The program and tour involve a brief history of Cleveland Center, some background on the equipment and radar displays, visits to our meteorology and traffic management units, and time on the control room floor to spend with the controllers working live traffic. It’s a great opportunity to meet your local controllers and ask them questions. Let Vicki know if you are interested in going but are not yet on the list. It should be an interesting day!
